Hawks win in straight sets against cross town foe

The Hagerstown women's volleyball team kicked off conference play at home on Wednesday, 9/4, against the Frederick Community College Cougars, winning the match 3-0. The Lady Hawks seized control from the first serve and it was never relinquished. What stood out most to Head Coach Sierra Hill was the defensive effort. "Defensively they were picking up everything" and "really kept the pressure on them", said Hill. Offensively the team was solid too as sophomore DS, Lexi Mackrell matched scores with some timely aces throughout. Another standout, freshman Libero Alaryss Medina, moved the ball around at will to set up some great swings for all of Hagerstown's hitters.

Next up for the Hawks is a tri-match this Saturday, 9/7, at Anne Arundel Community College where MDJUCO play continues against the hosting Riverhawks at 10am, followed by Garrett College at 12pm.
