The Hagerstown Women's Basketball team went on the road for the first time this past weekend and were able to play some out-of-conference opponents not normally seen in the tri-state area. On Sunday, November 10th, they first took on the Trojans of Fayetteville Tech CC, and despite hanging around in the first half, they were outlasted by a final score of 80-55. The Lady Hawks were led by sophomore Frederick CC transfer, Amelia Robins who paced the squad with a double-double (23 PTS, 10 REB). Other big-time contributors in the stat column were sophomore sharpshooter Susie Rodriguez with 15 PTS, including 3-5 from the beyond the arc, and freshman forward Andrea Elder with 9 PTS and 7 REB in the paint. Hagerstown then faced off with Barton College on Monday, 11/11, whom they also fell to 62-49. Robins ended one assist away from a triple-double (19 PTS, 10 REB, 9 AST) while Elder and Rodriguez added 17 and 11 points respectively. Even though the trip resulting in a few losses, silver linings were aplenty as they look to build off it moving forward.
They now set their sights on the Christendom College Crusaders as they return home to the ARCC tonight, November 13th to defend Jim Brown Court. The game is slated to start at 7pm and will be livestreamed on YouTube via the official HCC Hawk Athletics page. Please consider tuning in or coming out to the ARCC to cheer on the girls as they search for their first victory of the season!
