
The Lady Hawks continued their dominance in a second conference matchup against Allegany College of Maryland on Thursday, August 29, 2024. In what was their first home game of the season, they did not disappoint, beating the Trojans 5-0 in the 3pm matinee. True Benshoff buried an unassisted goal in the 3rd minute of the first half and the team never looked back. Benshoff later added 2 more second half goals to complete her hat trick, while sophomore captain Lexi Linetty had two goals of her own. Peyton Miller and Amelia Beck-Schmeider offered one and two assists respectively. The Lady Hawks continue their homestand today, September 3rd , at 4pm and look to stay hot against another crosstown rival, Frederick CC. The Hawks men's soccer team got its second win of the season, moving their record to 2-2, with a 4-2 win over the Allegany CC Trojans. The Hawks pressured the Trojans early with several close unfinished shots on goal, before Matt Downs scored on a cross from Gabe Avila to give the Hawks an early lead. The Trojans fought back, scoring a long range shot from Real Kamba to make it 1-1 at the half. The Hawks came out as the stronger team in the 2nd half, creating several chances and controling possession before giving up a headed goal by Allegany's Caedon Wallace, off a long free kick, giving the Trojans the 2-1 lead. The Hawks continued to press, taking control of the game, and tied it up midway through the second half on a goal by Carlos Pazos. Pazos received the assist from Alan Paz and dribbled through several Trojan defenders before slotting the ball home. Matt Kinsall scored the Hawks the game winner, with less than 10 minutes to play, making a great run and putting away a pinpoint cross from Carlos Pazos. A great combination play by several Hawk attackers led to Johann Avarca sliding a ball through to Ben Rankin on the back post to put the game away at 4-2. The Hawks compete again today, September 3rd, at 2pm at home vs Frederick Community College.
