Hagerstown Handles Mohawk Valley

Hagerstown CC Baseball is off to an impressive 18-1 start for the 2024-25 season. Under Coach Jennings, in his 25th year, the Hawks hold a roster of 13 freshmen and 18 sophomores. (Check out the roster here.)

To begin the season, the Hawks traveled to CCBC Dundalk (February 25th) and Allegany College of Maryland (March 2nd), building a 4-0 record before traveling south to play in the College Baseball Spring Invitational at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex, Vero Beach, FL. Over nine days, Hagerstown played 12 games in Florida, losing only one, to improve their overall record to 16-1. On Tuesday of this week, the Hawks traveled to Monroeville, PA to sweep the Wildcats of the Community College of Allegheny County, 7-0, 16-5.

HCC opened at home yesterday, hosting the Hawks of Mohawk Valley CC, Utica, NY, in a nine inning matchup. Hagerstown scored in the first inning, with Braylon Conner getting a lead-off base hit and stealing second, followed up by a walk by Quinn Illig and an RBI base hit by Ethan Shimmel. The Hawks held Mohawk Valley scoreless through four, and added 4 runs in the 7th and 2 runs in the 8th to seal the 9-5 win. Quinn Illig had 4 hits in 5 at bats with 3 RBIs in the game, and Nic Pierce got the win pitching 3.2 innings, allowing only 1 hit, 1 run, 1 error, 1 walk and striking out 4.

The Hawks play at home tomorrow, hosting the Knights of CCBC Essex in a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m. at Hawks Field.

Hagerstown hits the road for a five game stretch at the College of Southern Maryland (3/23, 12:00 p.m. / 2:30 p.m.), Cecil College (3/27, 1:00 p.m. / 3:30 p.m.), Chesapeake College (3/29, 12:00 p.m. / 2:30 p.m.), Harford CC (3/30, 1:00 p.m. / 3:30 p.m.), and Frederick CC (4/1, 1:00 p.m. / 3:00 p.m.)
