Ryan Delorbe and Will Grove combined on a no-hitter as Hagerstown Community College defeated the visiting Shenandoah University JV team 2-0 to complete a season-opening, doubleheader sweep Sunday, giving Scott Jennings his 1,000 career coaching victory, including his 608th with the Hawks.
"That was pretty cool to get the 1,000th win with a no-hitter, kind of icing on the cake," said Jennings, in his 20th season at HCC. "That made it special."
Delorbe pitched four innings for the win, striking out 10. Grove then earned a three-inning save.
Corey Walters had two hits, including an RBI double, and Kam Mays-Hunt had an RBI single.
The Hawks won the opener 4-0 behind the pitching of Dylan Reid and Brock Smith.
Reid went four innings for the win, allowing two hits, and Reid followed with a three-inning save, striking out four.
Raffy Baumgardner had two hits and an RBI, Rhoan Brumfield hit a two-run single and Delorbe had an RBI single.
"We played well today, only made one error in 14 innings," Jennings said. "We pitched well and played good defense. We still need to hit better, but we found ways to score runs."
Jennings' 392 other wins came while coaching Williamsport American Legion and Hagerstown PONY League.
