Hawks battle Falcons to a doubleheader split

GRANTHAM, Pa. — On a cold day, Hagerstown Community College battled Messiah College to a doubleheader split. HCC won the nightcap, after Messiah took the opener on a walk-off home run.

In HCC's win, Robbie Houck, Josh Menders and Branden Lynch had run-scoring hits, and Evan Marushak doubled, scored three runs and stole four bases. Lynch (2-0) picked up the victory with four innings of work.

HCC (22-9) never led in the first game and Messiah opened the bottom of the seventh with a home run for the win.

Nate Cotton, Andrew Mathias and Spencer Martin had two hits each and Menders and Marushak each drove in two runs for the Hawks.
