Hagerstown Community College jumped back over the .500 mark Sunday at home, rallying to complete a doubleheader sweep of the College of Southern Maryland.
HCC (13-12) won the opener 7-4 and came from behind to win the second game 12-11 in eight innings.
After Southern Maryland scored nine runs in the fifth inning to take an 11-8 lead, the Hawks fought back to force extra innings, and Geraghty Showe delivered a game-winning single.
The Hawks belted out 16 hits in the win, with Colby Shimmel collecting three hits, including a two-run home run. Quin Ambeault also had three hits along with two RBIs. Showe also hit a two-run double, Andrew Wenner, Doug Cassera and Patrick O'Connor each had two hits and Logan Wilmoth (3-1) pitched 3 1/3 shutout innings of relief to earn the win.
In the opener, Josh Colliflower pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing no earned runs while striking out five to improve to 3-2. Colby Smith picked up the save with 1 2/3 innings of work. O'Connor had two hits and two RBIs, while Cassera and Austin Moser each had two hits.
